I took a little bloggy break and you’d think that by now I’d have something worthwhile to talk about. But I don’t. I honestly can’t think of a single thing going on in this household that warrants an entire paragraph, much less an entire post. So, let’s hear it for a numbered list!
1. We have new neighbors! We’ve been living in our house for 4 and a half years and the house right next door to us has been empty almost that entire time. Last weekend I saw a “sold” sign go in the front yard and soon after that a moving truck arrived to move the new family in. My girls were thrilled when we realized that the new family has two daughters, ages 10 and 7! Our backyard has been a flurry of activity every afternoon as the girls all meet up at the swingset and play their little hearts out. (Yes, I realize that was a paragraph instead of a bullet point).
2. I ruined a perfectly good Friday by going swimsuit shopping. In the end, I didn’t buy a suit, but I did by a purse. It’s orange because I’m all about being practical.
3. I spent several hours over the weekend cutting nests, eggs, birds, and branches out of paper for a project going on at school. Call me crazy, but I actually enjoyed it. And as a bonus, I had the perfect excuse to watch ungodly amounts of Food Network and HGTV while I was cutting away.
4. My sister is half-way through her pregnancy. She had an ultra-sound several weeks ago and found out she’s having another boy which makes me deliriously happy. When my girls were little- before she had children- she spent entirely too much time laughing at me as I herded my children from place to place and she found their antics hilarious despite my stress and general anxiety. The fact that she will have 2 boys not even two years apart is all the proof I need that God has a fantastic sense of humor. I have no plans whatsoever to disguise my laughter. And I might even encourage those boys in their naughtiness. That’s what aunts are for. (Another paragraph, I know!)
5. Mother’s Day was a low-key occasion this year. After church Conrad grilled dinner while the girls made a salad. We had strawberry shortcake for dessert and then a nap while the Reds played in the background. We went for a walk later in the evening, but mostly it was a lazy day which is exactly what I needed.
6. Ellie is turning 4 on Thursday which makes me want to cry so I’m not going to talk about that anymore.
So there you have it. That pretty much sums up the goings-on in this household. Over and out.

I love this Vicki! It is great! And I love your orange purse purchase. Definitely a good move!!! Who needs a bathingsuit anyway?!?!?!
Once again, you’ve wowed me with your writing, your insight, your intelligence and most of all, your wonderful sense of humor, Vicki!
sooo good to hear from you again.
if we were sitting down to talk over that long-dreamed-of cup of coffee, i’d have tons more than this to say. but, i’ll say this: i completely understand if you tell Ellie that it’s actually her third birthday, again.
(although i love 4 year olds.)
Lol! You are a terrific writer. You could also be a politician. You can say a whole lot about nothing and impress people while doing it. You would be a shoe-in as a candidate.
