One of things I love most about Michigan is the diversity of the scenery. I can take about 20 steps one direction and be here:

While we’re in the woods, how about a fossil hunt:

If I take a few steps the other direction, I end up here:

Do you see why I sigh with great contentment when I think about home? Love it.
One of the main reasons we went home this weekend was to attend a football game that my “little” cousin was playing in. I haven’t been to a high school football game since I graduated 15 years ago, so to sit in the stands and watch Evan play was a lot of fun.

I took this shot during the national anthem. I hope it’s not disrespectful to take pictures during the anthem, but there was something really amazing about the quietness in the stands as we all stood to honor our country, and I wanted to try and capture it:

He’s a tough football player now, but I remember when he was born and I also remember when he looked like this:

This was homecoming weekend which gave me a chance to see some classmates. I especially enjoyed reconnecting with this gal. We met in the 6th grade and have been friends ever since. The scary thing is that she now has a daughter in the 6th grade which makes me feel pretty old.

At the end of the game the scoreboard looked just like it should after a homecoming game:

After the game we headed to my aunt and uncle’s house to hang out and eat snacks and get Evan’s perspective on the game. By the time we left we were pretty tired. Here’s Ellie demonstrating how we all felt:
Poor baby!
All in all we had an absolutely perfect weekend. I’m so thankful for a place to call home.

Looks like you had a great time Vicki! I enjoyed your blog!
We have gone to the Upper P. in Michigan two times and it is beautiful. We go with Thad’s aunt and uncle who have a boat. It is called Les Cheneaux Islands. We were on the Snows Channel.
