I took some inspiration from a few other blogs I read and decided to do a photo journal of a day in my life. I’d love to call this a “normal” day for me, but really, my days vary so much there is no real normal. So here it is, a random day in my life:
This particular day started with my alarm going off a 5:00 so I could be at the gym for my class by 5:30. At 6:30 I was back home and ready to get the older girls up and ready for their day.
After I got the older girls on the bus (which is a chaotic process. . .no time for photos!) I let Ellie chill out with breakfast and her favorite pals:

I ate my breakfast in peace while Dora entertained her:

Soon it was time to bundle Ellie up. She is learning to zip her own jacket, a lesson in patience for both of us:

Next, it was off to the elementary school for some volunteer work. Ellie went with me and hung out while I helped organize candy bars for a fundraiser:

When our work at the school was finished we headed home in time for Ellie to eat a quick lunch before her preschool bus came. Here she is waiting for the bus to arrive:

And the bus pulling away (at this point I threw my hands in the air and yelled, “FREEEEEEDOM” but I didn’t get a picture of that. Just kidding. Some days I find myself missing my little chatterbox, but some days the quietness and alone time is really nice):

As soon as the bus pulled away I ran a few errands. First stop:

Believe it or not, I totally stuck to my list (toilet paper, paper towel, hair spray, rug for the entryway) and did not let myself just wander aimlessly through the store. That wandering gets me in trouble every time. Stick to the list, Vicki, stick to the list.
Next stop:

I just love Marshall’s. I think it’s my favorite store. But again, no time to browse. I just had to quickly exchange some shoes for a different size then I was out the door. Good for me!
And finally, I enjoyed a lunch of Thai Chicken Salad and I even treated myself to a Chai Latte for dessert. Then I did some reading before getting out my new red laptop and responding to a few emails that needed my attention. This stop was my favorite part of my day:

I arrived back and home and was very disappointed to find my laundry did not do itself while I was gone. Darn.

Only 20 minutes after I got home Ellie’s bus pulled up and she came running up the drive, anxious to tell me about her day:

And 20 minutes after that B and L came flying in the door:

And that’s when I put the camera down and focused on making snacks, supervising homework, piano practice, dinner preparations, dinner, kitchen clean-up, showers and the night time routine. Whew! Then I hit the pillow myself for a good night of sleep before getting up and starting all over again the next morning. There you have it. . .a day in my life!

Vicki, that day wore me out. Don’t think i’ll be able to finish my housework today after reading all that!!
love it! do you mind if i copy the idea for my blog?
That day looks a lot like my life. Seriously. I guess us mom’s of 3 do a lot of the same stuff.
I’m going to copy your idea too. I love seeing what a day is like for other moms. I also appreciated your reading list. I’ve read half of those books, so I think we may have the same tastes. In case you don’t know me, I was on Conrad’s Hong Kong YES team. I’ve grown up a lot since then so he wouldn’t know me. I was really mean to him
I have your blog bookmarked and enjoy reading it.
Next time, I get to go to Panera, too. Without kids. Yesssss.
[...] got the idea to document a normal day from Vicki. Just to let you know, there’s a lot that doesn’t get included when you use photos to [...]
another idea: just shoot a portrait of them, on every birthday, by same frame. Than think that they became 17
